These projects usually involve a specific programme and design standards to fulfil specific government policies, or are part of a general rollout which may require a consistent design approach across a number of sites.
Our practice has had nearly 15 years’ experience in designing new and refurbished fire stations for the FRV (Formerly MFB and CFA). Fire stations require constant upgrading to incorporate current fire-fighting technology, fire fighting practices, firefighter’s welfare, and non-discrimination.
Small institutional renovations, while not new landmark buildings, are nonetheless as important.
Re-roofing a library, for example, to prevent leaks becomes equally important as the new building itself. Redesigning a fire station turnout area can lead to reduced response times in a life and death situation.
